  2. Holding Control Points: Randomly placed throughout the PvP-enabled Deep Desert are control points for specific minor houses.   • Priority Quests: Focus on the main story quests until you’ve crafted your first sandbike. 🛵 This vehicle is your key to getting around the bigger world. Once you’re mobile, your next goal is to find the trainers for the other mentor classes to start diversifying your build. Completing the Fremen Trials of Aql is also super important, as it unlocks essential survival tools like the Stilltent and the Thumper.

10.1 Movement Mastery: The Art of Traversal 🤸

Basic running and vehicles will only get you so far. True masters of movement can get around the map in ways that defy gravity and completely ignore the threat of sandworms.

  • The Shigawire Slingshot: Combine the Trooper’s Shigawire Cable with a suspensor belt like The Emperor’s Wings. Fire the cable at something high up. As you’re being pulled forward, about three-quarters of the way through, activate your suspensor’s jump/glide. The momentum from the cable will transfer to your glide, launching you forward at unbelievable speed and across huge gaps. Weeee! 🥳
  • Bene Gesserit “Uber Flying”: The Bene Gesserit have a unique sprint ability. If you activate this sprint and then jump off any ledge, you can enter a state of long, high-speed forward flight. By tapping the jump key, you can manage your stamina and cross huge stretches of open sand without ever touching the ground, making you totally immune to sandworms. It’s awesome! ✈️

10.2 Efficiency Hacks: Playing Smarter, Not Harder 😉

Small optimizations can lead to huge gains over time.

  • Optimal Dew Harvesting: Water is life, and there’s a secret to getting the most of it. Press ‘T’ to pull up your in-game clock. For a short time at dawn, a part of the clock will turn light blue. 🌅 During this window, harvesting Dew Flowers with a Dew Reaper gives you a massively increased amount of water—up to ten times the normal amount! Stockpile empty Literjons and use this time to fill them up for days.
  • Fuel-Efficient Ornithopter Gliding: You can fly your ornithopter across the entire map without using a single drop of fuel. Get to the height and speed you want, then stop thrusting. As you glide, you’ll slowly lose altitude. To fix this, gently tap the ‘S’ key (pitch up) every few seconds. This will bump the nose up just enough to keep your altitude while you keep your forward momentum, letting you fly pretty much forever. 🐦
  • Targeted Loot Respawn Farming: High-value loot chests inside places like shipwrecks and testing stations respawn their loot after about 30 minutes. You can use this to your advantage. Clear the location once, then park yourself near the chest you want to farm and log out. When you log back in after 30 minutes, the loot in the chest will have respawned, but the enemies inside won’t (except maybe a final boss). This lets you repeatedly loot rare schematics, unique weapons (like Kaleff’s Drinker), and advanced materials without having to fight through the whole place again. 💰

10.3 Combat Nuances and Unorthodox Tactics 🤔

  • The Wallhack Scanner: Your scanner isn’t just for finding resources. It will also highlight humans as water sources, even through solid walls and terrain. Use this to see where enemies are inside buildings or behind cover before you go in a room. 👀
  • Forcing the Ranged Switch: Shielded melee enemies are tough on flat ground, but they have a big weakness: they can’t reach you if you’re on high ground. If you use a suspensor belt or the environment to get on top of a container or ledge they can’t climb, they’ll eventually give up trying to reach you and pull out their much weaker sidearm. When they shoot this weapon, their shield drops, leaving their head exposed for easy sniper shots. 🎯
  • Healing Kit Bonus: The first time you use a healing kit in a short period, it restores way more health than the next uses. If you take a lot of damage, use one kit, then try to find cover and wait a few moments before using a second one. This lets the “first use” bonus reset, maximizing your healing efficiency. ❤️‍🩹
