Chapter 1: Your First Steps in Allraan

Every epic journey begins with a single step. To ensure your path in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is one of triumph, you must first master the fundamentals of exploration, resource management, and your own potential.

Navigating the World of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

The world of Allraan is vast and filled with secrets. Moving through it efficiently is the first skill every great leader must learn.

  1. Prioritize the Dash Boots. Your single most important early-game objective is to find the Dash Boots. They are located in a chest within the Abandoned Mine dungeon. These boots significantly increase your movement speed on the world map and in dungeons, dramatically improving the game’s pacing and making exploration a joy rather than a chore. Do not leave the mine without them.
  2. Unlock Fast Travel as Soon as Possible. Tedious backtracking can halt the momentum of any adventure. To unlock fast travel in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, you must progress the story until you reach the city of Hishahn. There, you will meet a woman named Carrie. Completing her short introductory quest will grant you the ability to instantly travel to any previously visited town or location, a true game-changer.
  3. Understand Item Stacking. Your initial inventory of 30 slots can feel restrictive. However, many consumable items stack. For instance, six Healing Herbs or two Revival Medicines will only take up a single inventory slot each. Keep an eye on these stack limits to maximize your carrying capacity.
  4. Don’t Be a Hoarder. Early-game equipment quickly becomes obsolete. Sell old armor and accessories you are no longer using. This not only frees up precious inventory space but also provides a steady stream of Baqua (the game’s currency) for more important purchases.
  5. Expand Your Inventory. Once you reach Hishahn, you can recruit a character named Nell. Placing Nell in your party’s support slot will instantly increase your inventory capacity by 20 slots. Later, building and upgrading the Stowpack Shop at your Castle HQ will provide four permanent 10-slot upgrades.
  6. Use the Town Map. When in a town or city, press the map button to bring up a local map. This will mark key locations like inns, shops, and your current objective, preventing you from getting lost in larger settlements.

Essential Early Game Priorities

Your first few hours in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes set the stage for the rest of the campaign. Making the right choices early will pay dividends later.

  1. Stockpile Healing Items. In the early stages of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, healing magic is inefficient. The basic Water Rune spell heals a mere 40 HP for a costly 10 MP. A simple Healing Herb provides the same amount of healing for a fraction of the cost. Always maintain a healthy stock of healing items from town shops before venturing into a new dungeon.
  2. Save Your Baqua, Don’t Buy Armor. Resist the temptation to buy new armor from shops in the early game. You will find better or equivalent gear for free in treasure chests as you explore dungeons. Your Baqua is far better spent on upgrading the weapons of your core party members at a smithy.
  3. Weapon Upgrades Outweigh Armor Upgrades. A weapon upgrade provides a direct and significant boost to a character’s damage output. Since defeating enemies faster means taking less damage, investing in offense is often the best defense. Focus on upgrading weapons for your primary damage dealers first.
  4. Embrace the Trading Posts. Many towns feature a trading post where you can buy and sell commodities. Prices fluctuate between regions. This is the most reliable way to earn large sums of Baqua. Buy items when the price is low (indicated by blue, downward-facing arrows) and sell them in another town where demand is high (indicated by red, upward-facing arrows).
  5. Track Trading Profits for Recruitment. Some characters, like the trader Hogan, will only join you after you have earned a specific amount of profit from trading (50,000 Baqua in his case). Keep this in mind as you build your mercantile empire.
  6. Appraise Unknown Items. You will occasionally find unidentified items from monster drops or chests. Take these to an Appraiser’s Shop to reveal their true nature and value. However, be cautious about selling them immediately.
  7. Hold Onto Unique Appraised Items. Some appraised items, like the Pearl Pocket Watch, are required to recruit specific characters later in the game. It’s wise to store at least one of each unique appraised item until you know it’s not needed.

Understanding Your Hero’s Stats and Growth

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes uses a familiar JRPG stat system, but the game doesn’t always explain what each attribute does.

  1. Decode the Stat Sheet: PWR. Power directly influences the damage dealt by standard physical attacks and most SP-based skills.
  2. Decode the Stat Sheet: MAG. Magic affects the damage of magical spells and the potency of magical healing.
  3. Decode the Stat Sheet: DEX. Dexterity governs a character’s accuracy (hit rate) and plays a role in their ability to evade attacks. It also contributes to the critical hit rate formula.
  4. Decode the Stat Sheet: SPD. Speed determines a character’s turn order in battle, which is displayed at the top of the screen. A higher Speed means acting sooner. It also likely contributes to evasion.
  5. Decode the Stat Sheet: PDF & MDF. Physical Defense and Magical Defense reduce the damage taken from physical and magical attacks, respectively. A small increase in these stats can have a surprisingly large impact on survivability.
  6. Decode the Stat Sheet: LCK. Luck is a primary factor in determining a character’s critical hit chance. It may also influence other random factors, such as item drop rates.
  7. Utilize the EXP Catch-Up Mechanic. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes features a “rubber band” experience system. If you place a low-level character in a party with high-level allies and fight powerful enemies, the low-level character will receive a massive amount of EXP, often gaining 10-20 levels in a single battle.
  8. Never Grind for New Recruits. Because of the catch-up mechanic, you should never feel the need to tediously grind levels for a newly recruited hero. Simply add them to your main party for a few fights in a high-level area, and they will be up to par in no time. This system encourages constant party experimentation.
  9. Benched Characters Don’t Gain EXP (Initially). By default, only characters in your active battle party (the six front-and-back-row slots) gain experience. Characters in the Support or Attendant slots do not.
  10. Build the Drill Grounds for Passive EXP. Once you establish your Castle HQ, you can build a facility called the Drill Grounds. This will grant a passive experience bonus to all characters who are not in your active party, helping to keep your entire roster leveled.
  11. Characters Heal on Level-Up. A character’s HP and MP are fully restored when they gain a level. This can be a lifesaver in long dungeons, so keep an eye on a character’s EXP bar before using a valuable healing item.

Chapter 2: Mastering the Art of Combat in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

The turn-based combat of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes appears simple on the surface, but beneath it lies a deep system of positioning, resource management, and strategic defense.

Formations, Positioning, and Attack Ranges

Where you place your heroes on the battlefield is just as important as the commands you give them.

  1. Know Your Ranges. Every character has a weapon with a Short (S), Medium (M), or Long (L) range. This determines who they can attack from where.
  2. Short-Range Characters Belong in Front. S-range fighters (using swords, fists, etc.) can only attack the enemy’s front line, and only when they are in your front line. They cannot act offensively from the back row at all.
  3. Long-Range Characters Are Safest in Back. L-range fighters (bow users, mages) can target any enemy from either row. However, they are typically fragile and should be placed in the back row for protection.
  4. Medium-Range is Flexible, Not Always Safe. M-range fighters can hit the enemy’s front and back rows from your front line, but only the enemy’s front row from your back line. Many M-range characters, like Garr, are very durable and should be used as front-line tanks who can also hit the enemy’s back line.
  5. The Back Row Isn’t a Safe Haven. Many enemy monsters also possess Medium-range attacks. This means they can target your squishy back-line mages and archers even from the enemy’s front line. Always consider the HP and defenses of your back-row characters.

The Flow of Battle: Managing SP and MP

Victory in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes often comes down to the careful management of two key resources: Skill Points (SP) and Magic Points (MP).

  1. SP is Random at First. At the start of each battle, a small pool of SP is distributed randomly among your party members. After that, every character gains exactly 1 SP at the start of each new turn. This initial randomness makes it difficult to rely on using a high-cost SP skill on your first turn.
  2. Conserve MP for Bosses. MP is a finite resource that is not restored after battle unless you use an item or rest at an inn. In dungeons, you should conserve your MP for the powerful spells needed to defeat the boss at the end. Rely on items and defensive skills for random encounters.
  3. Use Charge Characters for SP-Free Damage. Characters like Yusuke have a “Charge Up” defensive skill. This allows them to defend for a turn while building power, making their next attack significantly stronger. This is an excellent way to deal massive damage without spending any SP or MP. This effect can even stack up to two times.
  4. Identify 1-SP Skills for Infinite Use. If a character starts a battle with at least 1 SP, and they have a skill that costs only 1 SP, they can use it every single turn. Since they regenerate 1 SP at the start of the next round, they can effectively use the skill indefinitely.

Exploiting Weaknesses: A Guide to Attributes

Every attack in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has an attribute. Exploiting enemy weaknesses is the key to efficient battles.

  1. Master the Elemental Cycle. The magical elements have a standard rock-paper-scissors relationship: Fire is strong against Wind, Wind is strong against Earth, Earth is strong against Water, and Water is strong against Fire.
  2. Light and Dark Are Mutually Weak. The Light and Dark elements are super-effective against each other, meaning they will deal and receive extra damage when matched up.
  3. Pay Attention to Physical Attributes. Just as important are the five physical attributes. Using the right one can completely neutralize an enemy’s defenses.
AttributeEffectBest Used Against
SlashStandard physical damage.Unarmored, general-purpose targets.
ThrustStandard physical damage.Unarmored, general-purpose targets.
BluntDeals damage directly to an enemy’s Armor rating (the shield icon).Heavily armored enemies (i.e., Golems, Knights).
GrappleBypasses enemy Armor entirely, dealing damage directly to HP.Heavily armored enemies.
AerialDeals extra damage to flying enemies.Flying enemies (i.e., Birds, Bats, Wyverns).
  1. Build Parties for Dungeons. Before entering a new area, consider the types of enemies you might face. If you are entering a mine full of Golems, bring characters with Blunt and Grapple attacks. If you are heading to a mountain peak, bring Aerial and Throw-type characters.

The Best Defense: Understanding Defensive Skills

The “Defend” command in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is far from standard. Each character has a unique defensive skill that can dramatically alter the flow of battle. Choosing to defend is a strategic action, not a passive one.

Defensive SkillKey UsersEffect
DefenseMost UnitsTake half damage for one turn. The standard defensive action.
Charge UpYusuke, Galdorf, ScarlettDefend while building power to significantly increase the damage of the next attack. Stacks up to two times.
Dodge / Expert EvasionLian, Hildi, Faye, HakuginIncreases Evasion for three turns, allowing the character to potentially avoid all damage from multiple attacks.
ShieldMellore, Francesca, MarkusCreates a magical barrier that absorbs a limited amount of damage before breaking.
Taunting CounterIugoTaunts an enemy, drawing their attention, and has a chance to perform a powerful counterattack if the user evades the blow.
Taunting EvasionPerrielle, CJTaunts an enemy and greatly increases evasion for three turns, effectively turning the character into a dodge-tank.
Cover Row and CounterReynaDefends the entire row (front or back) and has a chance to counterattack any attack that hits that row.

Flawless DefenseYuthus, MaureusReduces all damage taken to 1/10th for one turn. An incredible emergency defense.
Return MagicMomo, IshaWhen hit by a magic attack, automatically retaliates for half the damage suffered.
EndureEl AlicantoAbsorbs enemy attacks to recover SP, turning damage taken into a resource.

Chapter 3: Advanced Tactics for the Alliance

With the fundamentals mastered, it is time to delve into the deeper strategies of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. These tactics will help you overcome the game’s toughest challenges.

Unlocking the Secrets of Boss Gimmicks

Many boss battles in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes are more like puzzles than simple damage races.

  1. Look for Environmental Gimmicks. In some boss fights, the environment itself is a weapon. Look for objects like cranes, boulders, or cover points that can be interacted with to deal massive damage or avoid a devastating attack.
  2. Every Boss Has a “Hidden” Gimmick. Even when there are no obvious environmental objects, most bosses have a unique trick. For example, the Ancient Seed boss will counter every single physical attack it receives. If you don’t notice this pattern, you will take unnecessary damage. Always observe a new boss for a turn or two before committing to an all-out assault.
  3. Beware the Shifting Turn Tracker. The turn order at the top of the screen is not always static. Certain actions will change it. The most common example is using a character’s turn to open a treasure chest that appears mid-battle. Doing so will immediately move that character to the very end of the turn order for that round.
  4. Plan Your Turns Before Confirming. Because the turn tracker can shift, always double-check the final turn order before you confirm your party’s actions. You might set up a critical heal, only to accidentally move your healer’s turn to after the boss attacks by having another character open a chest.

Strategic Use of Hero Combos

Hero Combos are flashy, powerful attacks involving two or more characters, but their best use is not always what it seems.

  1. Hero Combo Damage is Divided. A critical, unexplained mechanic is that the total damage of a Hero Combo is divided by the number of participants. This often means a two-person combo attack will deal less total damage than if both characters had simply used their standard attacks.
  2. Use Attack Combos for Utility, Not Damage. So why use them? Their value lies in their properties. Many Hero Combos can bypass enemy armor, cannot be countered, or execute faster in the turn order than the individual characters would. Use them to bypass a specific defense, not for raw single-target damage.
  3. Prioritize Non-Attack Combos. The most powerful Hero Combos are often those that provide healing or buffs. The combo between Francesca and Falward, for example, costs only 3 SP and heals the entire party for 50% of their max HP. This is an incredibly efficient party-wide heal that doesn’t consume any precious MP.
  4. Auto-Battle Ignores Hero Combos. The auto-battle AI will never select a Hero Combo. You must always input these commands manually.

Leading the Charge: Strategies for War Battles

At key moments in the story, you will command entire armies in large-scale tactical battles.

  1. Prepare Before Every War Battle. Before starting a war mission, make sure your main heroes’ weapons are fully upgraded at the smithy and their runes are optimized. The strength of your legions is tied to the strength of the characters leading them.
  2. Understand Unit Types. There are four main unit types: Infantry, Cavalry, Archers, and Mages. Each has strengths and weaknesses, and different commanders provide boosts to specific types.
  3. Use Cavalry for Flanking. Legions composed entirely of Cavalry units can move two spaces on the grid per turn instead of one. Use this superior mobility to flank enemy positions or quickly reach objectives.
  4. Let the Enemy Come to You. A common and effective strategy is to advance your legions one space on the first turn and then hold your position. This often forces the enemy to advance into your lines, creating bottlenecks and allowing you to focus your fire.
  5. Use Commander Skills Wisely. Commander skills can turn the tide of a battle. Use skills like Kassius’s “Provoke” to lock an enemy legion in place, preventing them from retreating or advancing. Use skills like Seign’s to immobilize a powerful foe while you deal with other threats.
  6. Focus Fire on Key Targets. In battles with a specific objective, like defeating a single enemy commander, don’t get bogged down fighting their entire army. Use your strongest legions to punch through and focus all your attacks on the main target.
  7. Mind Your Facing. The direction your legions are facing matters. A legion attacked from the side or rear will be at a disadvantage. Try to position your units to meet the enemy head-on.

Chapter 4: Forging a Mighty Alliance

The true strength of your cause in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes lies in the allies you gather. Recruiting all 120 heroes and building a formidable headquarters is your ultimate goal.

How to Recruit Every Hero in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Spoiler-Free)

Finding every hero can be a daunting task, but following a few simple principles will make it much easier.

  1. Revisit Every Location. New characters often appear in previously explored towns and areas after you complete major story events. Make it a habit to backtrack and talk to everyone again whenever the story advances.
  2. Talk to Everyone, Everywhere. Many potential recruits are hiding in plain sight as regular NPCs. Some will give you items, while others might have a quest for you. Speak to every character in every town, inn, and shop.
  3. Explore Your Own Castle HQ. As your headquarters grows, new events and characters will appear within its walls. Regularly walk through every part of your castle, from the ramparts to the basement, to trigger these events.
  4. Recruit B’baba, the Seer. Once your HQ reaches Level 2, you can begin the process of recruiting B’baba in Daphan Village. Once she joins, you can build the Divination Parlor. For a small fee, she will give you a clue about a potential recruit’s location, telling you which town or region to search. This is the game’s built-in, spoiler-free recruitment guide.
  5. There Are No Permanently Missable Characters. Relax! You cannot permanently lock yourself out of recruiting any character. All 119 heroes can be recruited right up until the final point of no return at the very end of the game. Explore at your own pace without anxiety.

Building Your Castle HQ: An Upgrade Priority Guide

Your castle is more than a home; it’s the engine of your alliance. Prioritizing the right upgrades is crucial for your success.

  1. Priority #1: The Mission Guild. This is the single most important facility you can build. While you can gather basic materials in the field early on, rare, high-tier materials needed for late-game upgrades are obtained almost exclusively by sending your benched heroes on missions from the guild. Build and upgrade it as soon as you can.
  2. Build Your Resource Generators Early. To fund your construction efforts, immediately build the Woodcutter’s Cabin (Lumber) and the Stone Quarry (Stone). These facilities will passively generate a constant supply of the two most common building materials.
  3. Upgrade Your Resource Depot. Your castle can only store a finite amount of materials. Upgrade the Resource Depot capacity regularly to ensure the resources passively generated by your facilities are not wasted.
  4. Invest in the Smithy. Having a smithy in your own castle allows you to upgrade weapons to their maximum level. This is a vital facility for keeping your combat party at peak performance.
  5. Build the Stowpack Shop. This shop, run by Nell, provides permanent upgrades to your personal inventory size. It is a massive quality-of-life improvement.
  6. Unlock the Mysterious Room. This facility in your castle’s basement is the ultimate endgame location for leveling up your characters and farming rare runes from rematches with powered-up bosses.
  7. The HQ is a Growth Cycle. The development of your headquarters follows a clear loop. You recruit heroes, which allows you to build facilities. These facilities generate resources, which let you upgrade your HQ’s overall level. Upgrading the HQ level unlocks new heroes to recruit and new facilities to build. Focus on feeding this cycle to grow your alliance efficiently.

Crafting the Perfect Party: Composition & Synergy

With over 100 characters to choose from, building the perfect party in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes can be overwhelming.

  1. Use Early Game Powerhouses. Some characters are strong from the moment you recruit them. Yusuke’s “Charge Up” skill makes him a fantastic physical damage dealer. Iugo is an excellent early-game tank. The Hero Combo between Francesca and Falward provides unparalleled early-game healing.
  2. Maintain a Balanced Party. A good general-purpose party should include: a durable front line, at least two sources of healing (whether from runes, items, or skills), a character with a Blunt or Grapple attack to deal with armored foes, and a mix of single-target and multi-target damage.
  3. Don’t Sleep on Late-Game Bloomers. Some characters, like Mio, feel very weak in the early game but have excellent late-game stat growths and become monsters at higher levels. Similarly, most mages are underwhelming until you can acquire high-tier spell runes, at which point they become the strongest damage dealers in the game. Don’t be afraid to bench a character and bring them back later.
  4. Put Story-Mandatory Characters in the Attendant Slot. If the story forces you to include a character in your party that you don’t want to use in combat, you can place them in the “Attendant” slot. They will still be with you for story purposes but won’t take up one of your six valuable combat slots.

Chapter 5: Diversions of a Hero

Allraan is filled with engaging minigames. Mastering them is not just for fun; several heroes can only be recruited by proving your skill in these side activities.

Becoming a Beigoma Grandmaster

This top-spinning game can be frustrating at first, but with the right knowledge, you can become a champion.

  1. Your Skill Doesn’t Matter, Your Top Does. Beigoma is almost entirely a game of stats. The starter tops you are given are incredibly weak and will lose to almost everyone. Do not waste your time trying to win with them.
  2. Farm Better Beigoma from Monsters. Your primary source of new, powerful tops is as rare drops from monsters. As you progress through the game, you will fight enemies that drop Silver, Gold, and eventually Rainbow-rarity Beigoma.
  3. Wait Until Late Game to Tackle the Questline. The easiest way to complete the Beigoma questline is to wait until you can access late-game areas. There, you can farm powerful Gold-rank tops from enemies like the Pawn Demon in the Proving Grounds or the dragons in the Den of Dunes.
  4. Bring Dr. Corque for Better Drop Rates. Once you recruit Dr. Corque, placing him in your Support slot will increase the drop rate of Beigoma from monster encounters.
  5. Master the Clash. The one element of skill is the “Clash.” If you and your opponent activate your boost at the same time, a button-mashing sequence will trigger. Winning this clash deals a huge amount of damage and is the key to defeating a statistically superior opponent.
  6. Pay Attention to Elements. Beigoma also have elemental properties that follow the same Fire > Wind > Earth > Water cycle. Matching your top’s element against an opponent’s weakness can provide a slight edge.

Winning the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Card Game

The card game is a strategic battle of wits where building the right deck is paramount.

  1. Learn the Winning Hands. The goal is to have a higher total power on each of the three fields. You get significant power bonuses and extra victory points for creating special hands of three cards: Straight (e.g., 4, 5, 6), Flush (three cards of the same color), Three-of-a-Kind (e.g., 7, 7, 7), and the powerful Straight Flush.
  2. Buy Packs to Build Your Deck. The default deck contains only blank cards. To win, you must buy card packs from Glen at the Card Shop in your HQ. This will give you Character Cards, each with a unique passive ability that can boost power or manipulate the board.
  3. Upgrade the Card Shop for Better Packs. As you upgrade your HQ, you can also upgrade the Card Shop. This will unlock new “Extra Packs” for sale, which contain rarer and more powerful character cards.
  4. Recruit Shixeen by Buying Cards. The secret to recruiting the card master Shixeen is not to beat a certain number of opponents, but to purchase a total of 150 cards from Glen’s shop (which equates to 50 packs). Once you hit this milestone, she will appear next to the shop. Defeat her in a match to recruit her.
  5. Build Your Deck Around a Strategy. Look for cards with synergistic effects. Some cards get bonuses if all cards on a field are odd-numbered, or if they are all different colors. Build your deck to consistently achieve these conditions.

The Ultimate Guide to Fishing

Fishing is a relaxing pastime in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes with a simple mechanic.

  1. Wait for the Big Bite. To catch a fish, cast your line and wait. A fish may nibble once or twice, but do not press the button. Wait until the lure is pulled completely underwater with a distinct splash, then press the action button to successfully catch it.
  2. Upgrade Your Fishing Spot. To catch the rarest fish, you must fully upgrade the fishing spot at your Castle HQ. This will give you the best fishing rod and increase the chances of rare fish appearing.
  3. Fish at Your HQ First. Once your fishing spot is fully upgraded, do a few rounds of fishing at all the spots available at your castle. This will likely allow you to catch the vast majority of fish species in the game.
  4. Hunt for Specific Fish. After exhausting your HQ spots, check the Fish book in your library to see what you are missing. Then, travel to the specific world map fishing spot where that fish can be found and fish there until you catch it. Some rare fish, like the Meteor Carp, may take many attempts.
  5. Find Hidden Fishing Spots. Not all fishing spots are marked on the map. Walk along coastlines and riverbanks, pressing the action button. You may discover a hidden spot with unique fish needed for recruitment, such as the Wheel-Eye Bream for Huang.

Dominating the Cooking Competition

This minigame pits your chef, Kurtz, against the nefarious Dark Dragon Syndicate.

  1. Recruit Kurtz in Hishahn. You can find Kurtz in Hishahn. He needs the “Grilled Tutuva” recipe, which can be obtained from an NPC in the Treefolk Village. Give him the recipe to recruit him and unlock the Restaurant at your HQ.
  2. The Secret to Winning: Omelet and Coconut Water. For almost every cooking battle, you can win by using the same combination of dishes. Select “Omelet” as your appetizer and “Coconut Water” as your dessert. These two dishes consistently receive high scores from the judges. For the main course, pick a dish that one of the judges is known to like.
  3. Find the Scroll of Heaven. You will face a rival chef named Trey. The first battle against him is scripted for you to lose. To win the rematch, you must first find the “Scroll of Heaven” item. It is located in a glowing spot in the southwestern area of the Seaside Caverns dungeon.
  4. Recruit Celia Through Cooking. As you defeat members of the syndicate, you will eventually be challenged by a masked woman. Defeat her in a cooking battle, and she will be revealed as Celia, who will then join your alliance.

Chapter 6: Secrets of the Hundred Heroes

True mastery comes from knowing the things the game never explicitly tells you. These are the hidden mechanics and expert strategies that will set you apart.

The Most Efficient Farming Methods in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Leveling and gathering resources can be a grind, but these methods will save you hours.

  1. The Bounty Hill Early EXP Trick. Shortly after getting your HQ, you can go to the Bounty Hill area. By walking against the invisible wall where a guard blocks your path, you can trigger random encounters with much higher-level monsters from the next section. These encounters grant enormous amounts of EXP, allowing you to jump from level 17 to over level 30 in just a few fights.
  2. Endgame Leveling in the Mysterious Room. The absolute best place to level characters to 99 is the Mysterious Room in your HQ basement.
  3. The Ultimate EXP-Boosting Combo. To level a character from 1 to 99 in minutes, enter the Mysterious Room with a party consisting of one high-level mage with a powerful all-target spell (like Crimson Nova from the Inferno Rune) and the low-level character you want to train. Equip the trainee with the Growth Badge (doubles EXP, found in the Abandoned Mine) and the Ascent Badge (late-game EXP boost). Finally, place the hero Yulin in your support slot to double all EXP gain for the party. This combination results in astronomical EXP gains.
  4. Farm Rare Materials with the Mission Guild. Do not waste time trying to farm late-game materials like Excellent Lacquer, Platinum Ore, or Orichalcum from gathering points in the field. These nodes are rare and have slow respawn times. The Mission Guild is the only efficient and reliable way to acquire these materials in the quantities you will need.

Hidden Mechanics the Game Doesn’t Tell You

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has several subtle systems working under the hood.

  1. The “Protect” Mechanic. Characters have a hidden “affinity” with each other. When an ally is about to be struck by a fatal blow, another character may automatically jump in front of them to take the hit. This can save a character from death but can also put the protector in danger.
  2. Find Rare Battle Chests. In certain areas, you have a small chance of encountering a battle with a special “gimmick” option: a treasure chest. You must use a character’s turn to select the “Open the chest” gimmick to receive its contents.
  3. Don’t Kill All Enemies Before Opening a Battle Chest. If you defeat all the enemies on the field before the character tasked with opening the chest gets their turn, the battle will end, and you will forfeit the chest’s contents.
  4. Save-Scum for “Star Items” in Shops. Shops will randomly and temporarily stock rare “Star Items,” which can include unique recipes, scripts, or powerful accessories. These items appear and disappear from the shop’s inventory every 30 minutes of real time. If you see one, buy it immediately. You can also save your game outside a shop and repeatedly reload to try and force a Star Item to appear.
  5. Some Characters Have Hidden Stat Affinities. Certain characters have hidden affinities for or against specific elements that affect the damage they deal and receive, independent of the standard elemental weakness chart. For example, the mage Zabi has a -90 affinity for Fire, meaning he takes significantly more damage from Fire attacks.
  6. Fiery Spirit and Awakening Buffs. If an ally is knocked out or falls below 30% HP, certain other characters with a relationship to them may receive a temporary “Fiery Spirit” (50% PWR buff) or “Awakening” (50% MGC buff).

Quality of Life and Exploration Secrets

  1. The Castle Well is a Shortcut. The well in your Castle HQ’s graveyard is not just decorative. Interacting with it will transport you to the end of the Abandoned Mine, providing a convenient shortcut for recruitment or material gathering.
  2. Manage Gear for Benched Characters. You can access the equipment and runes of every single recruited character—even those not in your party or temporarily unavailable for story reasons—by speaking to the innkeeper (Cassandra) at your HQ. This allows you to strip valuable gear from heroes you are not currently using.
  3. Difficulty Can Be Changed Anytime. If you start the game with certain difficulty modifiers on (like Hyperinflation or Double MP/SP cost), you can turn them off at any point in the settings. However, be warned: once you turn them off, they cannot be turned back on for that playthrough.
  4. Hold the Cancel Button to Skip Dialogue. If you are on a second playthrough or want to speed through conversations, holding down the cancel button (Circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox) will fast-forward through all dialogue and cutscenes.

Chapter 7: The Saga Continues: DLC and Beyond

The story of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes does not end with the main campaign. New story expansions and content have been released to continue the adventure.

Tips for the Story Expansion Chapters

  1. Understanding the DLC. There are three major story expansion DLCs, each focusing on a key character: “The Chapter of Marisa,” “The Chapter of Seign,” and “The Chapter of Markus.” These provide prequel stories and side adventures that flesh out the world and its heroes.
  2. Access DLC From Your HQ. The DLC chapters are not standalone experiences. They are accessed from within your main game save file, typically by interacting with an object in the respective character’s room at your Castle HQ.
  3. DLC Uses Your Current Stats. The character you play as in the DLC will have the same level, stats, equipment, and runes as they do in your main game.
  4. Prepare Your DLC Protagonist. Before starting a DLC chapter, make sure to properly equip the starring character. For example, before starting Marisa’s chapter, give her your Dash Boots and best gear to make her solo adventure much smoother.

Notes on Game Updates and Patches

  1. Check Out Cosmetic DLC. In addition to story content, several cosmetic DLC packs are available, such as the “Pioneer Pack” and “HQ Makeover Pack,” which add new decorative objects and exterior paint jobs for your castle.
  2. Keep Your Game Updated. The launch of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was accompanied by some performance issues and bugs, particularly on certain platforms. The developers have released numerous patches to address these problems. For the best and most stable experience, ensure your game is updated to the latest version.
