Hoist the Alliance Banner! ๐ฉ Your Epic Journey Begins
Welcome to Allraan, a land woven from a tapestry of nations, vibrant cultures, and deeply held values. ๐ The history of this continent has been written by the sword โ๏ธ and by the shimmering magic of artifacts known as โrune-lenses.โ โจ Here, humans, beastmen, elves, and desert folk have forged alliances and waged wars that have shaped the very mountains and rivers around them. But a shadow is growing. The Galdean Empire, having discovered a technology that dangerously amplifies the power of rune-lenses, now scours the continent, hungry for an artifact that will grant them unstoppable might. In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes your story begins at the crossroads of destiny. You are Nowa, a young villager whose path collides with Seign Kesling, a gifted Imperial officer on a fateful expedition. A friendship is forged, but the drums of war are beating louder. ๐ฅ Soon, a twist of fate will drag you both into the heart of a conflict that will force you to question everything you believe.
This is Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. But this guide isn’t just about winning a war. It’s about building a nation from the ashes of a forgotten castle. ๐ฐ It’s about finding the lost, the exiled, and the hopeful, and giving them a banner to rally underโyour banner. Your quest is to gather over one hundred unique souls, each with their own story, skills, and purpose. In doing so, you will discover the true purpose of this grand adventure: that victory is not found in the strength of one, but in the unity of many. ๐งโ๐คโ๐ง Let’s begin your legend!
A Modern Classic: Understanding the Eiyuden Chronicle Genre ๐ฎ
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is, at its heart, a love letter ๐ to the golden age of Japanese Role-Playing Games. Billed as a “modern take on a classic JRPG experience,” it is the spiritual successor to the beloved Suikoden series, created by some of the same masterminds. This heritage is the key to understanding its design philosophy.
The game presents itself in a stunning “HD-2D” art style, blending beautifully animated 2D pixel-art characters with lush, three-dimensional environments. ๐ผ๏ธ This creates a striking diorama effect that feels both nostalgic and wonderfully modern, appealing to veterans of the genre while looking polished for newcomers.
However, this commitment to its roots also means embracing what some reviews have called “retro jank” or “archaic structures.” โณ The game intentionally includes mechanics like random encounters on the world map and fixed save points in dungeons. Do not be discouraged by this! These are not design flaws; they are deliberate choices meant to evoke the feeling of 90s JRPGs. They encourage careful planning, resource management, and a sense of genuine risk and reward as you venture into the unknown. This guide will help you navigate these classic mechanics and turn them to your advantage. ๐
The true magic of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes lies in how its systems intertwine. You might think recruiting a new hero is just about checking a box, but it’s so much more. Every character you bring into your fold serves a purpose that ripples throughout your entire alliance. Recruiting Kerrin, the lumberjack ๐ช, isn’t just adding another face to the crowd; it unlocks the Woodcutter’s Cabin at your headquarters. This facility begins passively generating lumber, a resource you desperately need to build other structures like the Trading House or the Smithy. That Smithy, in turn, allows you to strengthen the weapons of the very heroes you need to venture out and recruit even more powerful allies.
This is the core loop of the game: Explore ๐บ๏ธ, Recruit ๐ค, Build ๐จ, Strengthen ๐ช, and Explore Anew. Every action you take, from winning a battle to catching a fish, feeds back into the growth of your nation. Finding a chef unlocks a cooking minigame that provides powerful buffs for your party. ๐ณ Finding a merchant opens up trade routes that fill your treasury. ๐ฐ This guide is built around this philosophy. We won’t just tell you what to do; we’ll show you why it matters, helping you see the grand design and find the profound satisfaction in watching your small band of rebels grow into a force that can change the world. ๐
The Art of War: Mastering Combat in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes ๐ฅ
Combat in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a rich and multifaceted experience, unfolding across three distinct tiers that represent the different scales of the conflict. You will command a small squad in turn-based dungeon crawls, lead entire armies in grand tactical battles, and face down key rivals in dramatic one-on-one duels. Mastering each mode is essential to becoming a true leader of the Alliance.
Standard Combat: The Six-Person Squad ๐คบ
This is the heart of your moment-to-moment gameplay. Your party consists of up to six active combatants, arranged in two rows of three. This formation is not merely for show; it is the single most important strategic element you control.
Battlefield Formations: Position is Everything
Every combat character in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has a designated attack range, which dictates where they can be effective.
- Short (S) Range: These are your classic frontline fightersโswordsmen โ๏ธ, brawlers ๐, and ax-wielders. They must be in the front row to attack. If you place a Short-range character in the back row, their “Attack” command will be grayed out, rendering them useless for physical offense. They can only target the enemy’s front row.
- Medium (M) Range: These characters, often using spears or certain types of blades, are more flexible. From the front row, they can target enemies in both the front and back rows. From your back row, however, they can only reach the enemy’s front row.
- Long (L) Range: This category includes archers ๐น, mages ๐ง, and other ranged specialists. They can attack any enemy from any position. Generally, you should always place them in the back row. They tend to have lower physical defense and HP, and the back row offers them protection from many physical attacks.
A balanced party composition is key. A standard setup involves placing three durable, Short-range characters in the front to absorb damage and deal it out, with three Long-range damage dealers or support characters in the back. Experimentation is encouraged, but always respect a character’s range!
The Action Economy: MP, SP, and Turn Order โณ
Your actions in battle are governed by two primary resources:
- MP (Magic Points) ๐ง: This is the classic resource for casting magic spells. Spells are learned by equipping Rune-Lenses, and MP is a finite resource that is generally only restored by using items or resting at an inn. Conserve it for tough fights and healing.
- SP (Skill Points) ๐ฅ: This resource fuels powerful, non-magical character skills and Hero Combos. The SP system is unique. At the start of a battle, a small number of SP (0-2) is randomly distributed among your party members. Then, at the start of every subsequent turn, every character gains 1 SP. This means that any skill costing only 1 SP can be used every single turn after the first, making them a sustainable source of damage or utility.
Keep a close eye on the Turn Tracker at the top of the screen. This shows the order of actions for the upcoming turn. A character’s Speed stat is the primary factor, but certain actions can shift the order. For example, choosing a defensive command often moves that character’s action to the very beginning of the turn, allowing them to brace for an incoming attack. Conversely, an action like opening a treasure chest found mid-battle will move that character to the very end of the turn order. Always check the tracker before confirming your commands to ensure your healer acts before the boss, not after! ๐
Hero Combos: The Power of Friendship ๐ค
When certain characters are in the same party, they can unleash a powerful Hero Combo. These special attacks require both (or all) participating characters to have a specific amount of SP. They range from devastating multi-hit attacks to party-wide healing and buffing spells. For example, the early-game combo between Francesca and Falward costs 3 SP from each and heals the entire party for 50% of their max HP.
However, be strategic. While visually impressive, many single-target damage combos are mathematically weaker than if the characters had just attacked individually. The damage is often split between the participants. The true strength of Hero Combos lies in their utility: hitting all enemies at once, attacking an entire row or column, or providing crucial buffs and heals that a single character couldn’t manage alone.
Defense is the Best Offense ๐ก๏ธ
The “Defend” command in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is not a single, simple action. Each character possesses a unique defensive skill, adding another layer of strategy to your survival. Understanding these is crucial for tackling difficult bosses.
- Defense: The most common type. The character takes half damage for one turn. Simple and reliable.
- Charge Up: The character defends while building power. Their next physical attack will deal significantly increased damage. This can stack up to two times for a massive blow. ๐ช
- Shield: The character creates a magical barrier that absorbs a set amount of damage before breaking. Excellent for negating a single, powerful hit.
- Dodge / Expert Evasion: The character’s evasion stat is increased for three turns, making them more likely to completely avoid physical attacks.
- Taunting Counter / Taunt and Dodge: The character taunts enemies, drawing their attacks, and then either counters with a powerful strike or has a high chance to evade. This is a fantastic tanking ability for drawing fire away from your fragile backline.
- Cover Row and Counter: A rare and powerful skill where the character defends the entire row they are in, with a chance to counterattack any enemy that targets that row.
Gimmicks and Boss Encounters ๐งฉ
Many major boss battles feature a unique “Gimmick” system. These are special mechanics or environmental objects that you must interact with to gain an advantage. You might need to have a character flip a switch to activate a powerful weapon, or take cover behind a pillar to avoid a devastating area-of-effect attack.
Furthermore, some bosses have hidden gimmicks even when the game doesn’t explicitly point one out. A classic early-game example is the Ancient Seed. It has no special gimmick meter or interactive object. However, if you attack it with any physical attack, it will immediately counter. The “puzzle” is to realize you must rely on magical attacks to defeat it safely. ๐ก Always observe the enemy’s behavior and be ready to adapt your strategy on the fly.
War Battles: Commander on the Field ๐บ๏ธ
As the war against the Galdean Empire escalates, you will take on the role of a true general, commanding your armies in large-scale tactical battles. These War Battles play out on a grid-based map and represent the grand, strategic scale of the conflict.
Forming Your Legions
Your army is composed of multiple legions. Each legion is led by a single Commander (one of your recruited heroes) and can be filled with several Captains (other heroes) who provide passive boosts.
- Commanders: The Commander determines the legion’s special ability, or Legion Command. These are powerful, manually activated skills that can turn the tide of battle. For example, Nowa’s command boosts his legion’s attack power, while Kassius can provoke an enemy legion, forcing them to attack him.
- Captains: You can assign other heroes as Captains to a legion. Each Captain provides a passive bonus, such as “Infantry Attack Boost S” or “Mages Magic Res Boost S.” Matching the right captains to a legion’s unit type is key to maximizing its effectiveness.
Battlefield Tactics
War Battles are a game of positioning, prediction, and resource management.
- Movement and Facing: You move your legions across the grid. The direction your legion is facing is critical. A legion attacked from the side or, even worse, the rear, will suffer a significant disadvantage. Always try to position your units to face the enemy or to flank them.
- Rage and Morale: As your legions take damage, your army’s Rage Gauge will fill. When full, you can activate it for a powerful boost for the rest of the turn. ๐ฅ Conversely, winning engagements and dealing damage fills the Morale Gauge, which provides a similar benefit. โจ Managing these gauges can give you the edge you need to break through a tough enemy line.
- Strategy: A common and effective strategy is to use a “hammer and anvil” approach. Use a tough, defensive legion to pin an enemy unit in place (the anvil). Then, maneuver a faster, more offensive legion (like cavalry ๐) around to their flank or rear to crush them (the hammer). Use Legion Commands at critical momentsโimmobilize a dangerous enemy with a scheme, boost your attack before a major clash, or use an emergency heal to save a weakened unit.
Duels: Cinematic Showdowns ๐ญ
At pivotal moments in the story, you will be challenged to a Duel. These are cinematic, one-on-one encounters that represent the personal, dramatic stakes of the conflict. They are less about stats and more about reading your opponent and making the right choice at the right time.
The mechanics are a simplified rock-paper-scissors system:
- Attack โ๏ธ: You attempt to strike your opponent. This deals damage and builds a small amount of your Tension Gauge.
- Counter ๐ก๏ธ: You take a defensive stance. This significantly reduces the damage you take from an enemy’s attack and builds a large amount of your Tension Gauge.
- Break ๐ฅ: This is your ultimate attack. It becomes available once you’ve depleted the enemy’s health to the “Break” marker on their HP bar, or if you completely fill your Tension Gauge. Using a Break attack is often the key to winning the duel.
The secret to winning is not to guess, but to listen. ๐ Before you choose your action, your opponent will say a line of dialogue. This is your clue!
- Aggressive Taunts: If the opponent says something threatening like, “Here I come, Nowa!” or “In the name of House Kesling, I will bring you in line!”, they are telegraphing an attack. You should choose Counter to absorb the blow and build your Tension.
- Neutral or Defensive Taunts: If they say something more passive or challenging, like “Try me!” or “Fight harder, Nowa!”, they are likely defending or preparing. This is your opening to Attack.
Be aware that some duels are multi-phased. After you use a Break attack, the scene may change, and the “rules” might shift. A line of dialogue that previously signaled an attack might now be an opening for you to strike. Stay observant, trust the dialogue cues, and you will emerge victorious from these dramatic clashes. ๐

Spotlight on the Stars of Destiny: Key Character Builds ๐ช
While Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes features a fantastic catch-up experience system that makes nearly any character viable, some heroes simply shine brighter on the battlefield. This section will spotlight some of the most powerful and popular characters, offering builds to maximize their potential. However, don’t be afraid to experiment! A well-placed Rune of Warrior’s Pinnacle can turn almost any physical attacker into a powerhouse.
S-Tier Powerhouses: The Best of the Best ๐
These characters are widely considered top-tier due to their exceptional stats, powerful unique skills, or incredible utility.
Momo (Magical DPS) ๐งโโ๏ธ
- Why he’s great: Momo is arguably the single best magic damage dealer in the game. He boasts incredible magic growth and can equip multiple high-level magic runes.
- Rune-Lens Setup:
- Golden Slot: Rune of Magical Font (Inherent)
- Magic Slots: Rune of Conflagration (for the devastating Inferno Pillar spell), Rune of Radiance
- Passive Slot: Rune of the Mage’s Pinnacle (Drastically increases Magic, decreases PWR/DEF. Turns him into a glass cannon.)
- Enhance Slots: Stack as many Rune of High Magic and Rune of Arcane Magic as possible.
- Strategy: Momo’s job is simple: delete enemies. ๐ฅ Use Dijkstra’s “Powerful War Cry” defense command to buff the party’s attack, then have Momo unleash Inferno Pillar on bosses for staggering damage.
Isha (Hybrid DPS/Healer) โจ
- Why she’s great: Isha is incredibly versatile. She has great magic stats, a powerful row-clearing SP skill in “Planet’s Rejection,” and can serve as an excellent primary or secondary healer.
- Rune-Lens Setup:
- Magic Slots: Rune of Water (for party healing), Rune of Inferno (for damage) or Rune of Tempest (for the party-wide speed buff).
- Passive Slot: Rune of the Mage’s Path (Increases Magic).
- Enhance Slots: Focus on Rune of High Magic and Rune of Swift Speed to ensure she acts quickly.
- Strategy: Use Isha to control the flow of battle. Clear out dangerous back rows with Planet’s Rejection, heal the party when needed, or speed everyone up with Storm’s Fury.
Reyna (Tank) ๐ก๏ธ
- Why she’s great: Reyna is the definitive tank. Her “Cover Row and Counter” defense is one of the best in the game, allowing her to protect two other characters while dealing damage back. Her defensive stats are immense.
- Rune-Lens Setup:
- Passive Slot: Rune of the Knight’s Pinnacle (Doubles DEF/MDEF, nullifies PWR/Magic). This makes her virtually indestructible to physical attacks.
- Enhance Slots: Rune of Hardened Defense, Rune of HP, and a Rune of the Firefly to increase the chance of being targeted.
- Accessory: Challenger’s Belt (Increases counter-attack rate).
- Strategy: Place Reyna in the front row with your two most fragile damage dealers. Use her “Cover Row” defense every turn. She will absorb immense punishment for the party while chipping away at the enemy with counters.
Unlocking Your Favorites’ Potential ๐
Love a character that isn’t considered “meta”? No problem. The Pinnacle runes are your key to making anyone a specialist.
- For any Physical Attacker: Equip the Rune of Warrior’s Pinnacle. This will drastically increase their Strength (PWR) at the cost of their defenses. Paired with a Rune of SP+ and runes that boost Strength, even a character with average attack stats can start hitting like a truck with their SP skills.
- For any Magical Character: Equip the Rune of the Mage’s Pinnacle. This turns any character with a decent MP pool into a dedicated spellcaster.
- For any Defensive Character: Equip the Rune of the Knight’s Pinnacle. This can make any character with high base HP a formidable tank.
The beauty of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is its flexibility. The catch-up EXP system means you’re never punished for trying a new party. So go ahead, build a team around your favorite designs or personalities, equip them smartly, and lead them to victory! ๐

Forging a Nation: Your Headquarters Awaits ๐ฐ
One of the most rewarding and unique aspects of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the town-building system. Shortly after the story begins in earnest, you will acquire a dilapidated castle that becomes your headquarters (HQ). This is more than just a home base; it is the heart of your Alliance. By recruiting heroes and investing resources, you will transform these humble ruins into a bustling capital city.
From Castle Ruins to a Thriving Capital: HQ Upgrades ๐
Your castle itself can be upgraded four times. Each upgrade dramatically changes its appearance, increases the population it can support, and unlocks new, more advanced facilities for you to build. To perform these major upgrades, you must speak to Iris in your castle’s main hall. Each level has specific requirements:
- Castle Level 2: Requires 26+ recruited allies, 6,400 Headquarters Funds, and 100 Food.
- Castle Level 3: Requires 46+ recruited allies, 11,760 Headquarters Funds, and 4 Excellent Lacquer.
- Castle Level 4 (Max): Requires 60+ recruited allies, 38,400 Headquarters Funds, 380 Food, 60 Pelt, and 2 Legend. Beast Horns.
Prioritizing these main castle upgrades is essential, as they are the gateway to unlocking the most powerful facilities and game systems.
The Drafting Studio: Your Development Blueprint ๐
All individual facility construction and upgrades are managed through the Drafting Studio, run by Caine. Here, you spend Headquarters Funds and collected materials to select nodes on a development tree. Each node represents a new building, an upgrade to an existing one, or a new feature for your Alliance.
This system is the tangible representation of your growth. Recruiting a hero with a specific skill, like the chef Kurtz or the appraiser Rody, is the key that unlocks their corresponding facility in the Drafting Studio. The table below details some of the most important facilities you can build.
Facility / Upgrade | Recruit Requirement | Cost (Funds & Materials) | Function / Benefit |
Build Hero’s Den | (Automatic) | None | Builds an Inn. Heal your party, save, and change party members. ๐ |
Build Restaurant | Kurtz | 800 Funds, 80 Food | Unlocks the Cooking Battle minigame and allows you to cook food items that provide buffs. ๐ณ |

Build Mission Guild | Enoe | 1,000 Funds, 40 Food | HIGH PRIORITY. Send heroes on missions to passively gather rare materials like Mystic Lumber and Iron Ore. ๐ |

Build Mysterious Room | (Requires HQ Lv. 3) | 1,960 Funds, 5 Platinum Ore, etc. | Unlocks the Hero’s Trial Grounds, an endgame challenge dungeon. ๐ |
Resource Depot Cap. 1-3 | (Automatic) | Varies | Increases the maximum amount of materials (Lumber, Stone, etc.) you can store. Crucial for large projects. |
Treasury Capacity 1-3 | (Automatic) | Varies | Increases the maximum amount of Headquarters Funds you can hold. |
The Alliance Economy: Mastering Your Resources ๐ธ
A successful Alliance runs on a strong economy. In the early game, you will be gathering resources by hand, but the key to long-term success is to build a self-sustaining economic engine that works for you.
Resource Gathering and Automation
Your first priority should be to automate the collection of basic materials.
- Recruit the Specialists: Find and recruit Kerrin (Lumber ๐ฒ), Ormond (Stone โ๏ธ), and Martha (Food ๐) as soon as you establish your HQ.
- Build their Facilities: Immediately build the Woodcutter’s Cabin, Quarry, and Pasture. These will begin generating a steady, passive income of your three most-needed basic materials.
- Upgrade Capacity: Invest in the Resource Depot Capacity upgrades early. Your passive generation will quickly fill your storage, and any excess materials are lost. Don’t let your progress go to waste!
The Mission Guild: Your Passive Income Engine
The Mission Guild, unlocked by recruiting Enoe, is arguably the single most important facility for mid-to-late game development. While your basic facilities gather common materials, the Mission Guild is your primary source for rare materials like Mystic Lumber, Iron Ore, Excellent Lacquer, and Platinum Ore. These are required for all high-level HQ upgrades and weapon enhancements.
As soon as you build the guild, start sending parties out. Always choose missions that reward the rare materials you need for your next big project. Achieving an “Epic Success!” on a mission yields even greater rewards, so send parties with high total stats.
Mastering the Market: The Definitive Trading Guide ๐
The trading minigame is the fastest way to earn a fortune in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. The system works like a simple stock market: buy goods at a low price in one town and sell them for a high price in another. Prices fluctuate every 30 minutes of real-world playtime.
To get started, you must first earn a 50,000 Baqua profit through trading, which allows you to recruit Hogan in Twinhorne West. Once he joins, you can build the Trading Post at your HQ. The easiest way to hit this initial target is to buy high-value, low-stock items in one region and sell them in a distant one where they are in high demand.
To simplify your path to riches and help you earn the “Hero of Commerce” achievement (1 million Baqua profit), use this master ledger. It lists the best places to buy and sell each trade good for maximum profit, ignoring the minor daily fluctuations.
Trade Item | Best Town to BUY From | Best Town(s) to SELL To |
Corn ๐ฝ | Treefolk Village | Impershi’arc, Ardinale |
Black Pepper | Hishahn | Ardinale, Impershi’arc |
Wine ๐ท | Ardinale | Treefolk Village |
Tanned Leather | Werne Village | Impershi’arc |
Leather Clothes | Werne Village | Treefolk Village |
Silk | Werne Village | Twinhorne East |
Foreign Clothes ๐ | Twinhorne East | Ardinale |
Crystal Ore ๐ | Hishahn | Werne Village, Ardinale, Impershi’arc |
Pink Coral | Hishahn | Treefolk Village |
Pearl | Hishahn | Werne Village |
Diamond โจ | Werne Village | Ardinale |
Rug | Werne Village, Twinhorne East | Impershi’arc |
Painting ๐จ | Ardinale | Twinhorne East |
Carving | Ardinale | Impershi’arc |
Red Gemstone (HQ Specialty) | Your HQ | Hishahn |
Gold Bread (HQ Specialty) ๐ | Your HQ | Werne Village |
Clay Figurine (HQ Specialty) | Your HQ | Ardinale, Impershi’arc, Twinhorne East |
Pro Tip for Trading: The Clay Figurine’s price is extremely volatile. It can be bought for a low base price at your HQ but can sell for immense profits or a staggering loss. Only sell Clay Figurines when the market price is high (generally above 5000 Baqua) to maximize your earnings. ๐ค
Crafting, Gearing, and The Power of Runes ๐ฎ
A hero is only as good as their equipment. In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, strengthening your party involves upgrading weapons at the smithy, purchasing armor, and, most importantly, customizing your heroes with powerful Rune-Lenses.
The Smithy: Forging Your Heroes’ Weapons ๐ ๏ธ
Every character’s weapon can be upgraded to increase their base Power (PWR) or Magic (MGC) stat. While most major towns have a smithy, they have a cap on how high they can upgrade your weapons. The only way to reach the maximum weapon level (Level 16) is by building and fully upgrading the Smithy at your own headquarters.
To build the smithy, you must first recruit the blacksmith Douglas in Eltisweiss by bringing him 10 Iron Ore. High-level weapon upgrades require increasingly rare materials.
- Levels 1-8: Require Baqua and common materials like Iron Ore.
- Levels 9-12: Require Baqua and rare materials like Platinum Ore.
- Levels 13-16: Require Baqua and the rarest materials, including Orichalcum, Sacred Tree Chip, and the Ancient Dragon’s Tooth.
These ultra-rare materials are primarily found through high-level missions from your Mission Guild or in the final dungeons of the game. Prioritize upgrading the weapons of your core party members first, as the costs can be substantial.
The Armorer & Accessory Shop: Gearing for Victory ๐ก๏ธ
Your HQ can also house an Armor Shop (run by Frida) and an Accessory Shop (run by Squash). As you upgrade your castle and these facilities, their inventory will expand to include some of the best defensive gear in the game.
While you will find plenty of armor in treasure chests, your HQ shops are a reliable source for outfitting your entire army. Pay special attention to the Accessory Shop inventory. Accessories provide a wide range of powerful passive bonuses that can define a character’s build.
Key Accessories to Prioritize:
- Stat-Boosting Bangles: Ruby Bangle (+30 PWR), Tanzanite Bangle (+30 MGC). These are fantastic for pure damage dealers.
- Challenger’s Belt: Moderately increases the wearer’s counter-attack rate. Essential for tanks like Iugo or Reyna.
- Lethal Necklace: Increases critical hit rate by 15%. Great for fast, multi-hit characters.
- Monster Repel/Attract Charm: These expensive but invaluable charms decrease or increase the random encounter rate, allowing you to either explore peacefully or grind for experience more efficiently.
The Power of Rune-Lenses: Ultimate Customization โจ
Rune-Lenses are the true key to character customization. These magical artifacts allow you to equip Runes, which grant new skills, spells, and passive abilities. You cannot equip runes from the main menu; you must visit a Rune Shop.
As characters level up, they unlock more rune slots, up to a maximum of seven for main characters. These slots are typed, restricting what kind of rune can be placed in them:
- Enhance: For passive stat-boosting runes (e.g., Rune of Power, Rune of HP).
- Skill: For active SP-costing skills (e.g., Rune of Quick Slash).
- Magic: For runes that grant magic spells (e.g., Rune of Fire, Rune of Water).
- Passive: For runes with special passive effects (e.g., Rune of Poison Resistance, Rune of the Firefly).
- All Type: Can hold any type of rune.
- Golden Slot: Holds a character’s unique, unremovable rune.
Must-Have Runes for Any Alliance
While there are dozens of runes to collect, some are so powerful they can completely transform a character’s role on the battlefield.
- Pinnacle Runes: These are endgame runes that specialize a character.
- Rune of Warrior’s Pinnacle: Drastically boosts PWR while nullifying DEF and MDEF. Turns any physical attacker into a high-risk, high-reward glass cannon. ๐ฅ
- Rune of the Mage’s Pinnacle: Drastically boosts Magic while nullifying PWR and DEF. The go-to rune for your dedicated offensive spellcasters like Momo. ๐ง
- Rune of the Knight’s Pinnacle: Doubles DEF and MDEF while nullifying PWR and Magic. This makes any character with a good HP pool an impenetrable wall. ๐ก๏ธ
- Path Runes: These are slightly weaker versions of the Pinnacle runes that offer a significant stat boost without the nullification penalty (e.g., Rune of the Warrior’s Path). They are excellent for hybrid characters.
- Stat-Boosting Runes: Don’t underestimate the simple runes. Stacking multiple Rune of Mighty Power (+10% STR) or Rune of High Magic (+10% Magic) on a character can lead to massive damage increases.
- Rune of SP+: Passively grants 1 additional SP at the start of battle. This is crucial for heroes who rely on expensive 2 or 3 SP skills, allowing them to use their best moves more quickly.
- Elemental Magic Runes (Fire, Water, Earth, Wind): It is always a good idea to have a variety of elemental magic across your party. The Rune of Water is particularly valuable, as its level 3 spell, Healing Drops, is one of the most efficient party-wide heals in the game. The Rune of Earth grants access to buffs that can negate one instance of damage, which is invaluable against superbosses.
Beyond the Battlefield: A Master’s Guide to Allraan’s Pastimes ๐
Building an alliance isn’t all war and politics. A thriving nation needs culture, entertainment, and leisure. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is packed with engaging minigames that offer a welcome break from the main quest, provide valuable rewards, and even lead to recruiting new heroes.
Beigoma Master โ๏ธ
Beigoma is a top-battling game reminiscent of Beyblade. To get started, you must initiate the questline with Reid in Eltisweiss. This will lead you to Dr. Corque, who gives you your first tops and unlocks the minigame.
- The Basics: You launch your top into a small arena. A well-timed launch (pressing the button when the meter is in the center) gives you a stronger start. During the match, a Boost gauge fills up. Activating your Boost gives your top a burst of speed and power.
- Advanced Strategy – The Clash: The key to victory is the Clash. If you and your opponent activate your Boosts at roughly the same time, your tops will collide in a button-mashing minigame. Winning the Clash deals massive damage to the enemy’s top while yours remains unharmed. Learning to time your Boost to coincide with your opponent’s is the most important skill in Beigoma.
- Elemental Advantage: Beigoma have elemental properties that follow a rock-paper-scissors cycle: Fire ๐ฅ > Wind ๐ฌ๏ธ > Earth ๐ > Water ๐ง > Fire ๐ฅ. Using a top with an elemental advantage will give you a significant edge.
- Building Your Collection: Your starter tops are incredibly weak. You must acquire better Beigoma by defeating monsters in the wild. High-rarity tops (three-star and above) are essential for defeating the toughest trainers. A great early-game top to farm is the Pawn Demon (โ โ โ ), which drops from Pawn Demon enemies in the Proving Grounds. Remember to equip drop-rate-boosting accessories and have Dr. Corque in your support slot to increase your chances!
King of Cards ๐
The card game in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a surprisingly deep mix of poker and territory control. You unlock it by recruiting Glen in Arenside after you gain the ability to Fast Travel.
- The Basics: The goal is to win more Victory Points (crowns ๐) than your opponent. The board is split into three fields, worth 1, 2, and 3 points respectively. You take turns playing cards to build a three-card hand in each field. The player with the higher total power in a field wins the points for that field.
- Poker Hands: You get significant bonuses for forming poker-style hands within a field:
- Flush (all same color): +2 Power, +1 Field Point
- Straight (numerical order): +2 Power, +1 Field Point
- Three-of-a-Kind (all same number): +3 Power, +2 Field Points
- Straight Flush (same color, in order): +5 Power, +3 Field Points
- Deck Building: The real strategy comes from deck building. By purchasing packs from Glen, you can replace your basic numbered cards with Character Cards. Each Character Card has a unique skill, such as “+9 Power if all cards in this field are different colors” or “+2 Power for each even-numbered card in this field.” Building a deck with synergistic skills is the key to defeating S-rank opponents. For example, a deck focused on cards that reward having “all odd-numbered cards” can create incredibly powerful, low-cost hands.
Gourmand Hero: Cooking Battles ๐ณ
Recruiting the chef Kurtz and building a Restaurant at your HQ unlocks a cooking competition storyline. In these Cooking Battles, you face off against rival chefs from the Dark Dragon Syndicate.
- The Basics: You don’t actually cook. Instead, you select an Appetizer, a Main Dish, and a Dessert from the recipes you’ve collected. A panel of four randomly selected judges from your recruited heroes will then score your meal against your opponent’s.
- Know Your Judges: This is the most important part. Each hero has food preferences (e.g., Western, Sweet, Spicy) and a single favorite dish. You can learn these by having B’baba perform a background check on them. Serving a judge a dish that matches their preference will earn you a higher score. Serving them their absolute favorite dish guarantees a perfect score of 5 from that judge. โญ
- Hidden Mechanics: The game has a “Surprise Dish” mechanic. Serving one of these special dishes gives you a small chance to get a perfect score from all judges. However, serving two or three can have unpredictable or even negative effects. Be careful! The 10th battle against a chef named Trey is rigged; you cannot win until you find the “Scroll of Heaven” key item in the Seaside Cavern.
Master Angler: Fishing ๐ฃ
A classic JRPG pastime, fishing is simple to learn but challenging to complete. To begin, you must get the Bamboo Rod from Huang in Arenside.
- How to Fish: Cast your line at a designated fishing spot. Wait for a fish to bite. It may nibble a few times, but don’t press the button until the bobber is pulled completely underwater. โ
- Gotta Catch ‘Em All: There are 52 unique fish to catch across Allraan for the “The Hero Who Fished the World” achievement. Each fishing spot has a unique pool of fish. To make this quest easier, fully upgrade your HQ’s fishing spot, which requires recruiting Huang by catching him a rare Wheel-Eye Bream. A fully upgraded HQ fishing area will eventually contain almost every fish in the game, making completion much more manageable.
Eggfoot & Shi’arcraft Racing ๐
Your HQ can eventually house an Eggfoot Stable, allowing you to capture, breed, and race the adorable bird-like creatures. Later in the game, you will also gain access to Shi’arcraft Racing, a high-speed boat racing minigame. Both offer unique rewards and are a fun diversion from the main story. Success in these races often depends on acquiring better Eggfoots or Shi’arcraft parts and learning the layout of each track.
Advanced Strategies & Hidden Secrets of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes ๐คซ
You’ve built your nation and mastered the basics. Now it’s time to tackle the greatest challenges Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes has to offer. This section covers endgame party optimization and strategies for defeating the game’s secret superbosses.
Theory-Crafting the Ultimate Party ๐ง
With 120 heroes, the party combinations are nearly endless. However, for taking on the toughest content, certain synergies stand out. Here are a few top-tier party compositions to inspire your own builds.
The Nuke Squad: Maximum Offensive Power ๐ฃ
This party focuses on ending fights as quickly as possible with overwhelming magical and physical force.
- Front Row: Nowa, Leene, Dijkstra
- Back Row: Momo, Isha, (Flex Slot)
- Support: Galladur
- Strategy: This composition revolves around Dijkstra’s unique defense command, “Powerful War Cry,” which buffs the entire party’s PWR by 50% for one turn. On turn one, have Dijkstra defend. Have Isha use a speed-buffing spell like Storm’s Fury. Have your other characters use Charge Up or other self-buffs. On turn two, unleash hell. Leene, equipped with a Rune of Warrior’s Pinnacle and SP-boosting runes, can use her powerful AoE skill. Nowa can use his best slash attack. Momo, boosted by Mage’s Pinnacle, can cast Inferno Pillar for astronomical damage. This setup can often defeat bosses in two or three turns.
The Unbreakable Wall: The Ultimate Defensive Team ๐งฑ
This party is designed to outlast any opponent through sheer resilience and powerful counter-attacks.
- Front Row: Reyna, Iugo, Yusuke
- Back Row: Francesca, Falward, (Flex Slot)
- Support: Cassandra
- Strategy: Reyna is the core of this team. Equip her with the Rune of the Knight’s Pinnacle and a Challenger’s Belt. Place your two squishiest characters in her row and use her “Cover Row and Counter” defense every single turn. She will absorb nearly all damage directed at that row and retaliate constantly. Iugo and Yusuke provide additional tanking and damage. In the back, Francesca and Falward can use their “Light and Dark Heal” Hero Combo for massive party-wide healing and buffs, making the party virtually immortal.
Conquering the Superbosses โ ๏ธ
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes contains secret, optional bosses that represent the pinnacle of combat challenge. Do not attempt these fights unprepared.
The Ancient King ๐
- Location: This superboss is found on Floor 26 of the Hero’s Trial Grounds, a challenge dungeon unlocked by building the Mysterious Room at your HQ.
- Threats: The Ancient King is styled as the “Master of Death” for a reason. Its most dangerous attack is Death’s Scythe, which hits every party member with six rounds of powerful Dark magic damage, easily capable of wiping an unprepared party. It also has access to high-level magic of almost every other element.
- Strategy: Survival is key. Your primary tool is the Earth magic spell Planet’s Rejection, which creates a barrier on the party that negates one instance of damage for each character. This can completely nullify a devastating AoE spell. Cast this frequently. High Magic Defense is a must. Bring Isha for her healing and access to this spell. Your damage should come from your strongest, most optimized hitters like a Pinnacle-equipped Momo or Leene. Buff your party’s speed to act before the King, and focus on a sustained, high-damage assault while keeping your defensive barriers up.
Bloodfest ๐ฉธ
- Location: This secret boss was added with the Chapter of Markus DLC. It can be found by returning to the basement of the very first dungeon in the game, the Northern Runebarrows. Go to the dead-end platform where Nowa and Seign fell during the prologue and inspect the edge.
- Strategy: Bloodfest is a powerful foe, but it has one glaring weakness: it is highly susceptible to the Stun status effect. A party built around inflicting stun can potentially lock this boss down and prevent it from ever taking a turn. Characters like CJ, who can hit multiple times, are excellent candidates for equipping a Rune of Stun. Accessories that increase stun probability, like the Citrine Bracelet, are also highly effective. A character like Lian, equipped with the Preventive Bracelet and the Rune of Prevention, can create a permanent stun lock, making this fight trivial if you have the right setup.
The Saga Continues: A Guide to DLC Content ๐
The story of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes does not end when the credits roll. Three major story expansions have been released, each adding new perspectives, characters, and challenges to the world of Allraan. All three DLC chapters become accessible from your headquarters after you complete the “Recapture of Eltisweiss” war battle in the main story.
Story Expansion: The Chapter of Marisa
[Image: Marisa standing in the lush Greatwood, looking towards a mysterious, glowing rune.]
- Focus: This DLC is a prequel, shedding more light on Marisa’s journey as a Guardian before she meets Nowa. It explores her relationship with her fellow Guardians, particularly her adopted brother Wayve, and her first encounters with Nil and Leene.
- Content: This roughly two-to-three-hour adventure takes you through new areas of the Greatwood and a unique Runebarrow. It provides valuable backstory for Marisa, a character some players felt was underdeveloped in the main campaign. The gameplay is standard party-based combat, with no War Battles or Duels.
- Why Play It? If you’re a fan of Marisa and the Guardians, this DLC offers a welcome dose of character development and lore surrounding the enigmatic “Child of the Rune.” ๐
Story Expansion: The Chapter of Seign
- Focus: This chapter follows Seign and his loyal companions (Hildi, Pohl, Valentin) after they separate from Nowa’s Alliance. It reveals their covert operations within the Galdean Empire, showing the difficult choices and sacrifices they made from behind enemy lines.
- Content: This expansion provides a crucial missing piece of the narrative, showing events from the Imperial perspective. Most importantly, upon completing this DLC, the character Grace becomes a new, fully playable hero that you can add to your main party roster. ๐
- Why Play It? This is essential for anyone invested in Seign’s character arc. It adds significant depth to the story and rewards you with a brand-new combat-ready hero for your Alliance. ๐
Story Expansion: The Chapter of Markus
- Focus: Delve into the dark and mysterious past of Markus, the King of the Revenants. This story follows Markus, Carrie, and Nowa as they investigate an anomaly known as “Menhir’s Distortion,” which unlocks a gateway to new secrets.
- Content: This DLC explores Markus’s origins and the nature of his cursed crown. It features new, eerie areas to explore and adds the secret superboss, Bloodfest, to the Northern Runebarrows in the main game.
- Why Play It? For lovers of lore and challenge, this expansion is a must. It fleshes out one of the game’s most intriguing characters and adds a new endgame boss to test your ultimate party. ๐
In addition to these story expansions, several smaller cosmetic and item packs are available, including the HQ Makeover Pack (offering new exterior paint colors for your castle ๐จ) and various “Journey Packs” that provide a small bundle of starting items. These are optional additions for players who wish to customize their experience further.
