Part 1: Your First Steps in the Megabonk Arena (Beginner Tips)

Getting started in Megabonk can feel like being thrown into a woodchipper. Hordes of goofy-yet-deadly enemies descend on you from all directions. This section will give you the foundational knowledge you need to survive those crucial first few runs and begin your journey toward total domination.

Understanding the Mission

Your primary goal in Megabonk is simple on the surface but has a few key layers. Understanding the basic gameplay loop is the first step to victory.

  1. Survive, Level Up, Get Strong. This is the core of Megabonk. You defeat enemies, and they drop XP shards. Collect enough shards, and you level up, which presents you with a random selection of three or four upgrades. You choose one, get stronger, and repeat the process, all while trying not to get overwhelmed by the ever-growing horde.
  2. Your Goal is the Teleporter. Unlike some survivor-likes where the only goal is to last as long as possible, each stage in Megabonk has a primary objective: find the teleporter. Once the in-game timer runs out, you need to locate this portal to summon and defeat the stage boss. Finding it early and knowing its location is a key piece of strategy.
  3. Know Your Currencies. You will collect two main types of currency during your runs. Gold is an in-run currency dropped by enemies and found in pots. You use it to open chests and buy items from vendors within that specific run. Silver is the permanent meta-currency. It drops less frequently but is used in the main menu to permanently unlock new characters, weapons, tomes, and other upgrades that will appear in all future runs.
  4. Read and Complete Your Quests. Megabonk features over 240 in-game quests. These are not just for bragging rights. Completing quests is one of the primary ways you unlock new, powerful items and earn the Silver needed to purchase them. Pay attention to these quests to guide your progression.

Early Game Survival Priorities

Before you can dream of god-tier builds, you need to survive the first five minutes. These tips are the bedrock of every successful Megabonk run.

  1. Keep Moving, Always. This is the cardinal rule of the genre. Stagnation is death. If you stand still, you will be surrounded and killed. You should always be on the move, repositioning to control the flow of enemies.
  2. Make Wide, Circular Patterns. Don’t just run in straight lines. By moving in large, looping circles around the map, you can “kite” the hordes of enemies, gathering them into a dense, trailing pack. This makes them an easy target for area-of-effect (AoE) attacks and conveniently groups all their dropped XP in one place for easy collection.
  3. Don’t Neglect HP and Lifesteal. It is tempting to pour every upgrade into damage. In the first few minutes, this feels viable. However, you will quickly reach a point where the screen is so full of enemies and projectiles that taking damage is inevitable. Investing in some survivability—like Max HP, HP Regen, or Lifesteal—provides a crucial buffer that allows you to make mistakes and stay in the fight longer.
  4. Break Every Pot You See. The destructible pots scattered around the maps are a vital source of early-game resources. They can contain Gold, health pickups, and XP. Smashing them is also the requirement for unlocking the powerful XP Tome, a cornerstone of many advanced builds.
  5. Open Chests Regularly (At First). As a new player, you should spend your Gold on the item chests you find as soon as you can afford them. The items inside provide significant power boosts that will help you survive and clear the first few stages. Be aware, however, that this strategy will change as you become more advanced.

Part 2: The Art of the Bonk: Movement & Survival (Intermediate Tips)

Once you have the basics down, it’s time to elevate your gameplay. The two skills that separate good Megabonk players from great ones are mastery of movement and a deep understanding of defensive mechanics. The 3D environment is not just for show; it’s a physics playground you can exploit.

Advanced Movement Techniques

The movement system in Megabonk is surprisingly deep, drawing inspiration from classic arena shooters. Mastering it is not just about going fast; it is about fundamentally changing the game’s economy. Every successful bunny hop is a level-up you did not have to spend on a movement speed upgrade. This frees your build to focus purely on what matters: more damage, more projectiles, and more bonking.

  1. The Bunny Hop (B-Hop) is Essential. The core of advanced movement is the bunny hop. To perform it, you jump, press and hold the crouch key in mid-air, and then press jump again the instant you touch the ground. If timed correctly, you will carry your momentum into the next jump, allowing you to build up and maintain high speeds.
  2. Strafe-Jumping for Maximum Velocity. To reach even higher speeds, combine your b-hop with strafing. While holding forward (W), also hold a strafe key (A or D) and gently move your mouse in the same direction. Chaining these strafe-jumps together allows you to accelerate far beyond your character’s base speed.
  3. Use Slopes to Your Advantage. The 3D terrain is your friend. Sliding (crouching) down any hill or incline will grant you a massive burst of speed. You can then transition this speed into a series of b-hops to carry that momentum across flat ground.
  4. You Can B-Hop While Shopping. A crucial micro-optimization: if you are in the middle of a high-speed b-hop sequence and need to open a chest or select a level-up upgrade, keep the crouch button held down. This will allow you to complete the action without losing your momentum.
  5. Bind Keys for Fluid Movement. For more consistent b-hopping, consider binding “Jump” to your mouse’s scroll wheel. This allows you to spam the jump input when you land, guaranteeing a perfectly timed hop. It is also helpful to bind “Interact” to a side mouse button so your left hand can remain focused on movement keys.
  6. Beware of Fall Damage. With great verticality comes great responsibility. Unlike in 2D survivor-likes, jumping off a high cliff in Megabonk will inflict significant fall damage. It is a fast way to end a promising run, not a clever escape route.

Building a Resilient Bonk-er

As the difficulty ramps up, avoiding all damage becomes impossible. Understanding how to mitigate and recover from hits is crucial for pushing into the later stages of Megabonk.

  1. A Single Point of Shield is Invaluable. The Shield is a separate health bar that recharges quickly after you avoid taking damage for a short time. Its most powerful property is that having any amount of shield—even just one point—will absorb a single hit of any magnitude. That one point of shield can negate a boss attack that would have otherwise killed you. A small early investment in a shield is one of the most efficient defensive upgrades in the game.
  2. Understand Armor’s Diminishing Returns. Armor provides a percentage of damage reduction. It is a fantastic stat, but its effectiveness begins to plateau as you approach 90% reduction. The Armor Tome and other armor upgrades also provide smaller increases as your total armor gets higher.
  3. Evasion is Your Friend. Evasion gives you a chance to completely negate incoming damage. It is a powerful defensive layer that becomes especially effective when stacked, and it is the core stat for characters like Ninja.
  4. Know Your Power-Ups. Scattered on the ground, you will find temporary power-ups. Learn to recognize them instantly: the Heart restores health; the Magnet pulls all XP on the map to you; the Speed Boost increases movement speed; the Purple Lightning boosts attack speed; the Coin increases gold gain; the Green Shield grants temporary invincibility; the Stopwatch freezes all enemies; and the Nuke kills all nearby non-elite enemies.
  5. Always Grab Magnets. The Magnet power-up is arguably the most impactful temporary buff in Megabonk. It can instantly grant you multiple level-ups, especially after a large fight or a boss encounter. Never pass one up.

Part 3: Building the Ultimate Bonk Machine (Characters, Weapons, & Builds)

This is where the real fun of Megabonk begins. With 20 characters, over 29 weapons, and more than 70 items, the number of potential build combinations is staggering. This section will break down the components you will use to craft your perfect engine of destruction.

Assembling Your Roster of Bonk-ers

Each character in Megabonk offers a unique passive ability that defines their playstyle. Learning their strengths and weaknesses is key to finding your favorite and pushing your runs to the limit.

  1. Fox is for Fortune. As a starting character, Fox is an excellent choice for new players. She gains a passive +1% Luck per level, which increases the rarity of the upgrades and items you are offered, leading to more consistent and powerful runs.
  2. Sir Oofie is the Unmovable Object. The other starting character, Sir Oofie, is the quintessential tank. He gains +1% Armor per level, allowing him to become incredibly durable and capable of shrugging off damage that would destroy other characters in the late game.
  3. Calcium is a High-Risk Speedster. This skeletal speed demon’s damage scales directly with his movement speed. Calcium is a blast for players who master the advanced movement system, but he is a true glass cannon—taking even a single hit can be devastating.
  4. CL4NK is the Crit-Bot. This robot gains a passive +1% Critical Hit Chance per level. This synergizes perfectly with his starting weapon, the Revolver, and makes him a natural choice for builds that focus on stacking massive crit damage.
  5. Megachad is the Tanky Brawler. Megachad’s “Muscle Flex” passive allows him to periodically negate an incoming hit and stun all nearby enemies. This makes him perfect for getting into the thick of things with close-range weapons like Aura.
  6. Robinette is the Gilded Archer. This character’s damage scales with the amount of Gold she is carrying. This unique passive encourages a “greedy” playstyle, prioritizing gold acquisition to fuel her offensive power.
  7. Dicehead is the Master of RNG. For those who love chaos, Dicehead is the ultimate gamble. He gains a completely random stat upgrade every time he levels up. This can lead to some truly broken and bizarre builds, though it relies entirely on luck.
  8. Amog Spreads the Sickness. This character’s passive ability is a poisoner’s dream. When an enemy poisoned by Amog dies, they explode, spreading their poison stacks to nearby enemies. This can create devastating chain reactions that wipe out entire hordes.
  9. Bandit is the Attack Speed King. Gaining +1% Attack Speed with every level, Bandit is the premier character for builds that rely on on-hit effects and rapid-fire weapons. The faster he attacks, the more effects he can trigger per second.
  10. Ninja is the Evasive Assassin. Ninja’s passive grants him bonus Evasion per level and allows him to execute enemies after successfully evading an attack. This rewards a high-skill, hit-and-run playstyle.
  11. Bush is the Hidden Sniper. This literal walking bush gains bonus crit damage per level and can apply marks to enemies. This pairs perfectly with a sniper build, allowing for massive, screen-clearing explosions of damage.
  12. Monke is the Agile Trickster. Monke possesses a unique wall-climbing ability, giving him unparalleled vertical mobility. Combined with his bouncing Bananarang, he is perfect for players who enjoy an acrobatic and agile playstyle.
  13. Ogre is the Slow, Heavy Hitter. Ogre is a straightforward powerhouse, gaining +1% Damage per level. He has a massive health pool but suffers from extremely low base movement speed, making him reliant on movement skills or upgrades.
  14. Athena is the Thorns Tank. Athena gains Thorns per level, dealing damage back to attackers. Her attack speed also skyrockets when her shield is broken, rewarding a risky, retaliatory strategy.
  15. Birdo Owns the Skies. With a natural double jump and a glide ability, Birdo has excellent air mobility. This allows him to stay above the fray and synergizes well with items that provide bonuses while airborne.
  16. Noelle is the Frosty Duplicator. Her unlock condition, which involves duplicating an Ice Crystal, hints at her playstyle. She excels with ice-based effects and manipulating items using the Microwave interactable.
  17. Vlad is the Lifesteal Lord. Vlad gains +1% Lifesteal per level, making him the ideal candidate for builds centered around Blood Magic and other effects that trade health for power.
  18. Spaceman is the Low-Gravity Specialist. Spaceman has unique “moon gravity” physics, allowing him to float across the map. While this provides great mobility, his starting weapon, the Black Hole, is notoriously weak in the early game.
  19. Tony McZoom is the Challenge Rusher. Unlocked by completing in-game challenges, Tony McZoom is built for speed and efficiency, perfect for players who like to rush objectives and complete stages as quickly as possible.
  20. Sir Chadwell is the Cursed Knight. His unlocks are tied to the Cursed Tome and the Corrupted Sword, indicating a high-risk, high-reward playstyle that embraces the game’s difficulty-scaling mechanics.
  21. Unlocks are a Hidden Tutorial. View the process of unlocking each character not as a simple checklist, but as a series of built-in tutorials. Unlocking CL4NK teaches you about completing map tiers. Unlocking Amog teaches you about status effects. Unlocking Birdo forces you to interact with map hazards. Each unlock requirement is designed to make you a better Megabonk player.

The Bonkonomicon: Weapons, Tomes, and Items

These are the building blocks of your power. Understanding what they do and how to unlock them is fundamental to your success in Megabonk.

  1. Know Your Weapon Tiers. Not all weapons are created equal. Top-tier, or S-Tier, weapons like the Dexecutioner, Dice, and Black Hole have unique properties that allow them to scale into the late game far more effectively than weaker, D-Tier weapons like the Sword or Space Noodle.
  2. Understand Your Tomes. Tomes provide permanent, run-long stat bonuses that increase each time you level them up. They are the foundation of your build. Key offensive tomes include Damage, Quantity (projectile count), Cooldown (attack speed), and Precision (crit chance). Defensive staples are HP, Armor, Shield, and Regen.
  3. Items Are Your Build’s Foundation. The 70+ items in Megabonk are where the true magic happens. These provide passive effects that range from simple stat boosts (like Gym Sauce for +10% damage) to legendary, run-defining powers that completely alter how your character plays.
  4. Don’t Clutter Your Item Pool. As you unlock more items, you dilute the pool of things that can appear in your runs. It can be a smart strategy to avoid unlocking items that don’t fit your preferred playstyle. A smaller, more curated pool of high-quality items gives you a better chance of finding what you need for a specific build.
  5. Use the Toggler for Meta-Progression. The Toggler is a powerful shop upgrade unlocked after purchasing 40 other unlocks. It allows you to go into your unlocked items list and disable any weapon, tome, or item you do not want to see in your runs. This gives you the ultimate control over your RNG, allowing you to force specific builds more consistently.

Forging God-Tier Builds

Now, let’s put it all together. A “build” is the synergistic combination of your character, weapons, tomes, and items. Here are some of the most powerful and popular builds in Megabonk.

  1. The Crowd Control Build (Bananarang + Aura). This is a highly reliable build for clearing large swarms. The Bananarang fills the screen with bouncing projectiles, while the Aura creates a constant damage pulse around you, killing anything that gets too close. Pair this with the Quantity Tome and Projectile Speed Tome for maximum screen coverage.
  2. The High-Damage Crit Build (Revolver). This glass-cannon build focuses on maximizing critical hit damage. Start with a character like CL4NK and the Revolver. Prioritize the Precision Tome and Cooldown Tome, and look for items like Forbidden Juice (+10% crit chance). The goal is to fire a constant stream of high-damage critical shots.
  3. The AFK Farmer Build (Megachad). Perfect for a more relaxed playstyle, this build turns Megachad into an unstoppable juggernaut. The core components are the Aura and Aegis weapons. Aura provides constant passive damage, while Aegis absorbs hits and retaliates. Focus on the Damage Tome and Cooldown Tome to boost Aura’s power and reduce the cooldown of Megachad’s passive stun.
  4. The Black Hole Executioner Build (Bandit). This is a top-tier meta build for leaderboard runs. It uses Bandit’s incredible attack speed scaling. The core idea is to take the Black Hole weapon and pair it with the Size Tome, creating massive vortexes that trap entire hordes. Then, use the Dexecutioner weapon and stacks of the legendary item Joe’s Dagger to execute enemies instantly.
  5. The Poison Proliferation Build (Amog). This build leverages Amog’s unique passive. Take the Poison Flask weapon and stack items like Moldy Cheese (+40% chance to poison). Each kill will trigger a chain reaction, spreading poison across the entire screen and melting enemies with damage-over-time effects.
  6. The “Holy Trinity” for High Scores. For players aiming for the highest kill counts, three tomes are considered essential: the XP Tome (to level up faster), the Luck Tome (to ensure those levels provide high-rarity upgrades), and the Cursed Tome (to increase enemy spawns, leading to more XP and kills). Mastering this trio is key to scaling into the millions.
  7. On-Hit Effects are King. The most powerful builds in Megabonk often revolve around stacking global multipliers. High attack speed (from the Cooldown Tome or Bandit’s passive) and high projectile count (from the Quantity Tome) don’t just increase your base damage; they multiply the number of times you can trigger powerful “on-hit” effects from items like Moldy Cheese (poison), Ice Cube (freeze), and Spicy Meatball (explosion). More hits equal more procs, leading to exponential damage growth.

Part 4: Mastering the Megabonk Environment (Map & Interactable Tips)

The randomly generated maps of Megabonk are more than just battle arenas; they are a crucial part of your resource management and build strategy. Learning to read the environment and exploit its features is a vital skill. By actively seeking out specific interactables, you can take control of your run’s RNG instead of being a passive victim to it.

The Shrine Economy

Shrines are special objects scattered across the map that provide powerful, one-time effects. Knowing what each one does and when to use it can turn the tide of a run.

  1. Use the Shrine of Succ Wisely. This shrine instantly pulls every XP shard on the entire map to your location. It is best used after clearing a massive wave of enemies or right before you trigger the boss fight to gain a sudden, massive influx of levels and power.
  2. The Boss Curse (Bloody Shrine) is High-Risk, High-Reward. Activating this shrine will cause an additional boss to spawn when the time comes. This significantly increases the danger, but it also means you will get an extra free item chest and a huge XP drop for your trouble.
  3. Always Fill Charge Shrines. These shrines require you to stand within their radius for a period of time to charge them up. Once full, they offer you a choice of three permanent stat boosts. They are almost always worth the time investment.
  4. Prioritize Golden Charge Shrines. These are rare, glowing versions of the normal Charge Shrine. They operate the same way, but their reward is a choice between three guaranteed legendary upgrades. Finding one of these can single-handedly make a run successful.
  5. Use Greed Shrines to Scale Difficulty. These shrines offer you a sum of Gold in exchange for permanently increasing the run’s difficulty by 5%. This makes enemies tougher and more numerous. When your build is strong enough to handle it, this is an excellent way to accelerate your XP and gold gain.
  6. Moai Shrines Offer Free Items. These large, stone head statues present you with a choice between two or three free items. There is no cost or downside; always activate them when you see them.
  7. Challenge Shrines Grant a Free Chest. Activating these skull-marked shrines will spawn a difficult group of elite enemies. If you can defeat them, they will drop a free item chest.

Environmental Objects and Secrets

Beyond shrines, the world of Megabonk is filled with other interactive objects and hidden secrets that can reward observant players.

  1. The Microwave is for Duplication. These colorful appliances allow you to duplicate an item in your inventory. To do so, you must sacrifice another random item of the same rarity. Each microwave can be used three times before it breaks. This is an incredibly powerful tool for stacking key items.
  2. Beware the “Sus Bush”. In the Forest stage, you may come across a particularly suspicious-looking bush. Interacting with it will summon a secret boss that is far more powerful than the normal stage enemies. Avoid this encounter until you are confident in your build and looking for a real challenge.
  3. Hunt Tumbleweeds for Secret Weapons. While exploring the Desert stage, make sure to destroy any tumbleweeds you see. They have a small (5%) chance to drop the unlock for the Katana (on Tier 1) or the Shotgun (on Tier 2).
  4. Find Monke in the Forest. The character Monke is not unlocked through normal progression. You must find him locked in a cage within the Forest biome and use a golden key to set him free.
  5. Hunt Special Skeletons. As you fight, keep an eye out for rare enemy variants. Blue Skeletons are fast and will try to flee, but killing one drops a guaranteed full level-up. Gold Skeletons do the same but drop a large amount of Gold instead.

Part 5: Achieving God-Tier Megabonk Status (Advanced & Endgame)

You have mastered movement, you know every character, and you have forged powerful builds. Now it is time to enter the true endgame of Megabonk: pushing for leaderboard-topping high scores. This requires a shift in mindset, where the goal is no longer just to win, but to master the delicate balance between greed and survival.

The Art of the Infinite Run

The highest scores in Megabonk are achieved by manipulating the game’s systems to maximize kills and levels. This involves a set of counter-intuitive strategies that are risky but incredibly rewarding.

  1. Delay Opening Chests. Unlike beginners, advanced players should hoard their Gold. Do not open chests as you find them. Instead, wait until the end of the stage, after you have leveled up your Luck Tome as high as possible. High luck drastically increases the chance that chests will contain rare, epic, and legendary items, making your late-game gold spending far more efficient.
  2. Farm the Final Swarm. When the stage timer runs out, a teleporter to the boss appears. However, if you ignore it, an endless “final swarm” of powerful ghost enemies will begin to spawn. The true endgame strategy is to survive in this swarm for as long as possible, racking up an immense number of kills before finally escaping to the boss.
  3. Hug the Portal. The key to surviving the final swarm is positioning. Stand directly on top of the teleporter. The ghost enemies will eventually start to knock you back with their attacks. By standing on the portal, you can immediately activate it and escape the moment they reach you, maximizing your farming time.
  4. Lifesteal is Key for Swarm Survival. The final swarm deals constant, unavoidable chip damage. The only way to survive for more than a few seconds is to have a significant amount of lifesteal, typically from the Bloody Tome or items like Demonic Blade. Your healing must outpace the incoming damage.
  5. Restart for the Perfect Opener. Do not be afraid to restart a run if your first few level-ups are poor. Many high-score attempts begin with the player restarting dozens of times until they are offered a crucial tome like XP, Luck, or Cursed on their first or second level-up.
  6. Check Vendors for an Early Anvil. The Shady Guy vendors that appear on the map can sometimes sell the Anvil, a legendary item that adds +1 to all stats when you upgrade a weapon. Finding this item early in a run can dramatically accelerate your power curve.

Dominating the Final Boss

The final boss fight has been adjusted in recent patches to be more manageable, especially for players coming out of a long final swarm farm.

  1. You Get Your Weapons Back. During the multi-phase final boss encounter, the boss will steal your weapons. However, after you complete each phase, you will get one of your weapons back. This means you only have to fight the difficult first phase with your single starting weapon.
  2. Pylon Zones are Bigger and Heal Less. In one phase, the boss becomes immune and starts to heal from several pylons that you must charge by standing near them. These zones are now larger, making them easier to contest, and they heal the boss for less than they used to.
  3. Orbs are Less Threatening. The boss’s projectile orb attacks have been nerfed. They deal less damage, he spawns them less frequently, and the blue orbs that freeze you now only last for 1 second instead of 3, making them much less of a death sentence.

Part 6: The Bonk-er’s Toolkit (QoL, Settings, & Miscellaneous Tips)

Finally, here is a collection of quality-of-life adjustments, hidden mechanics, and miscellaneous tricks that can smooth out your Megabonk experience and give you a competitive edge.

Optimizing Your Game

A few small tweaks in the settings menu can have a big impact on your gameplay and situational awareness.

  1. Increase Your Minimap Size. In the game settings, you can increase the size of the minimap display. A larger map makes it much easier to track the locations of shrines, vendors, and the all-important boss teleporter.
  2. Lock the Minimap Rotation. By default, the minimap rotates with your character. There is a setting to lock its orientation (typically with North at the top), which many players find less disorienting and easier to navigate with.
  3. Adjust Your Field of View (FOV). You can widen your FOV in the video settings. A higher FOV allows you to see more of the battlefield to your left and right, giving you more time to react to flanking enemies.
  4. Zoom Out Your Camera. A setting exists to increase the default distance of the camera from your character. This provides a better top-down overview of your immediate surroundings.
  5. Customize Enemy Targeting. Megabonk offers two primary targeting modes: “Closest Enemy” and “Smart Aim,” which tends to prioritize enemies in your path. A slider in the settings lets you adjust what percentage of your projectiles adhere to this logic versus firing at random enemies, allowing you to fine-tune your balance between single-target focus and crowd control.
  6. Disable Numbered Key Selections. If you find yourself accidentally hitting number keys and choosing the wrong upgrade, you can disable this feature in the settings and rely solely on mouse clicks for your selections.

Miscellaneous Tricks and Unlocks

Here are the last few essential pieces of knowledge to complete your transformation into a Megabonk master.

  1. How to Get More Weapon and Tome Slots. You start with two slots for weapons and two for tomes. The third slots are unlocked by completing 25 (weapon) and 35 (tome) quests. The fourth and final slots are unlocked by completing 45 (weapon) and 55 (tome) quests. After unlocking them, you must still purchase them with Silver from the main menu shop.
  2. Know Your Level Benchmarks. You can gauge the potential of a run by your level at certain milestones. As a rule of thumb, being above level 50 when you finish the Tier 1 stage is a good sign. If you are between levels 200 and 500 by the end of Tier 2, your run has “god potential” and can likely push for a high score.
  3. Crit Chance Soft Caps Around 50%. While you can get over 100% crit chance for a chance to “Overcrit,” the stat provides diminishing returns after about 50%. At that point, it is often more effective to start investing in Crit Damage or Attack Speed instead.
  4. How to Unlock Skins. You can unlock cosmetic skins for your characters by completing specific in-game achievements, such as killing 15,000 enemies with a character or defeating a boss in under six minutes. Once the objective is complete, the skin must still be purchased with Silver on the character selection screen.
  5. Athena’s Rage. The character Athena’s attack speed increases by a massive 150% when her shields are broken, rewarding a high-risk playstyle.
  6. Ogre’s Buffs. In a recent patch, the slow-moving Ogre was given more jump height and his starting Axe now spawns with two projectiles, making his early game more manageable.
  7. Calcium’s Speed Damage. The damage bonus that Calcium receives from his movement speed has been buffed, making him even more of a speed-based glass cannon.
  8. Bush’s Critical Boost. The character Bush now spawns more marks on enemies and gains crit damage per level, solidifying his role as a sniper.
  9. Kevin + Golden Shield Synergy. For a character like Robinette who wants to generate gold, combining the item Kevin (which constantly damages you) with the Golden Shield (which drops extra gold when you get hit) can create a constant stream of income.
  10. Final Boss Weapon Range. The effective range of your weapons is increased during the final boss fight, making it easier to deal damage while dodging attacks.
  11. Cheaper Early Game Rerolls. The costs for Refresh, Skip, and Banish options on the level-up screen are now cheaper in the early game, giving you more control over your build from the start.
  12. Exploding Spider Nerf. The infamous exploding spiders now deal less damage and have less HP, making them less of a run-ending threat.
  13. Select Your Music. If you find and activate all the boomboxes on a map during a run, you will unlock the Boombox item in the shop, which allows you to select the in-game music track.
  14. Manual Aiming. The Sniper Rifle and Shotgun can be manually aimed if desired, which can be useful for targeting high-priority elite enemies or bosses.
  15. Aura and Attack Speed. Despite being a constant AoE, the damage tick rate of the Aura weapon does scale with attack speed, making the Cooldown Tome a valuable pickup for it.
  16. Projectile Count Explained. The Projectile Count stat from the Quantity Tome and other sources is a global bonus that is added to each of your weapon’s individual projectile counts.
  17. The Fragile Challenge. For the ultimate test of skill, try the “Fragile Challenge,” where taking any form of damage—even fall damage or shield damage—results in an instant loss.
  18. Pacifist Challenge. Another popular community challenge is the “Pacifist Challenge,” where you attempt to win without directly attacking, relying on passive damage from items and auras.
  19. The “Sticks and Stones” Challenge. This in-game challenge restricts your build and is a great way to tackle the achievement for unlocking the Hero Sword.
  20. Don’t Get Abducted. Tornadoes in the Desert stage used to be able to suck you up and trap you indefinitely. This has been fixed, but they are still a hazard to be avoided.
  21. Embrace the Memes. From the “Sus Bush” to weapons named “Slutty Rocket” and an enemy called “Scorpionussy,” Megabonk is filled with shitposts and memes. Embrace the goofy, chaotic energy—it’s a core part of the fun.

Conclusion: Go Forth and Megabonk

You are now armed with the knowledge to conquer the chaotic world of Megabonk. You understand the subtle art of the bunny hop, the high-stakes economy of the final swarm, and the god-tier potential of a perfectly synergistic build. You know when to be greedy and when to play it safe. You know which bushes to avoid and which tumbleweeds to hunt. The Bonkonomicon is now yours.

But this is just the beginning. The true joy of Megabonk lies in experimentation. Take these tips, twist them, break them, and discover your own absurd ways to shatter the game. Create a build so powerful it lags your computer. Reach a kill count that seems mathematically impossible. Go forth, climb the leaderboards, and become a true legend. Go forth and Megabonk.
